Many, many times I find myself looking back to what I'd started with on the "29th parallel" album. It was simple and a little more organic. I really enjoyed making that one and listening to the outcome.
With "traces of spirit" I wanted to take a step back from some of the more orchestral instruments I'd been playing around with on the last few releases, more notably "vexing wound" and "my heart of stone" ... I wanted to take the machine-esque elements from "mhos" and combine them with the organic-like qualities from "29th parallel". So that's how "traces of spirit" came to life.
It was a really fun album to mess around with and piece together. ... I think 'open circuit marish' and 'green thumb black box' are really two of my favorite tracks to date.
